Unable to secure include a Z-Wave node

When changing between different sample applications without erasing the Flash you can get into a situation where you are unable to secure include the node using the DSK/QR code stored in the Token space. This happens because the keypair stored internally on the chip is out-of-sync with the stored QR code in the Token space of the Flash.

To fix this issue it is necessary to either erase the whole flash:

elcap device erase --all

or delete the QR code token:

elcap tokens erase --name TR_MFG_TOKEN_ZWAVE_QR_CODE

If you erase the whole flash you will need to flash the application again. If you only erase the QR code token the firmware will automatically generate a new correct QR code token.

Missing crystal calibration token

On some early DKNCZ20 boards the crystal calibration token can be deleted when using j-flash

Was my crystal calibration deleted?

To check if your DKNCZ20 is missing the crystal calibration use Trident Elcap to read the TR_MFG_TOKEN_XTAL_TRIM token. If the token is 0xFFFF and the DKNCZ20 board in in the list in List of affected boards and crystal calibration values, then the crystal calibration token has been deleted.

The Crystal Calibration Token (TR_MFG_TOKEN_XTAL_TRIM) can be set using Trident Elcap

Using Radio CLI:

Download Radio CLI to the board:

elcap flash --usb 900039473 --target T32CZ20 --file c:\Users\user_name\AppData\Local\tridentiot\elcap\sdks\v2025.03.00-beta00\z-wave\bin\zw_radio_cli_signed_combined.hex

Connect to the board uart with a terminal program and type the command:

cal-xtal store <value from table>

The crystal calibration for DKNCZ20 can be stored securely so it can not be erased by using the following command (SDK version 2025.05.00 or later):

cal-xtal internal store <value from table>

NOTE that this command is only for use with the DNKCZ20 command and should not be used with other products.
